Most of these sit along NASA Parkway and Bay Area Boulevard, from Webster east to Seabrook.

A family-owned Italian restaurant open since 1979, a short drive from Johnson Space Center. The walls are covered in autographed astronaut photos and NASA memorabilia.

A seafood restaurant on the marina, known for oysters, crab, and fish dishes with a view of the boats.

A Clear Lake seafood restaurant and oyster bar with fresh fish, oysters, gumbo, and steaks, plus a full bar and a long wine list.

Vietnamese-leaning pub food (banh mi, vermicelli bowls, spring rolls) served alongside a large, rotating craft beer list.

An Italian restaurant on the north shore of Clear Lake, from the same family as Frenchie's. It also works as an event and catering venue.

A large pub with more than 50 craft beers on tap and pizzas from a wood-burning oven, plus sandwiches, burgers, and salads.

The NASA-area location of a Houston Persian restaurant group, known for kebabs and rice dishes. It is within walking distance of Space Center Houston.

A Gulf seafood restaurant on the water in San Leon that runs its own shrimp and oyster boats. Shrimp and oyster dishes are the most ordered.

Craft beer and drinks on the water.

An independent craft brewery with a family-friendly taproom, a full food menu, and a pet-friendly patio. It moved to this Clear Lake Shores location in 2023.

Independent, locally owned shops.

A Nassau Bay coffee house serving locally roasted coffee, loose-leaf teas, specialty drinks, and locally baked goods. It opened in 2019 and moved to this spot off NASA Parkway in 2020.

A family-owned coffee shop and bakery that also sells local art. This is the Clear Lake shop; the original is near the Kemah Boardwalk.

Bayous, wetlands, and lakefront parks, most of them free.

A 200-acre former golf course rebuilt as a park and flood-detention area, with five lakes and six miles of wide, paved, accessible trails. It is a recognized birdwatching hotspot.

Good to KnowOpen dawn to dusk every day. There are three parking lots; the largest is the one on Diana Lane.

A 2,500-acre preserve of wetlands, forest, and tallgrass prairie with five miles of walking trails, a boardwalk, and a bison viewing platform.

A 64-acre Harris County park overlooking Armand Bayou, with playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, a dog park, and a boat and canoe launch.

Local TipWe have so many memories of being at this park growing up. It is still one of our favorites to go to.

A 59-acre Harris County park on the north shore of Clear Lake, with a fishing pier, boat launch, walking path, playground, and covered picnic areas.

A 76-acre wetland peninsula with a walking trail and water on three sides. It is open to the public year-round.

A city park next to Lake Nassau with gazebos, sports courts, and a fenced dog park.

A 52-acre park on Galveston Bay with a 1,000-foot fishing pier. It is a starting point for Seabrook's crushed-granite hike and bike trail system, which links several city parks.

A 148-acre wetland park on the south shore of Clear Creek, with trails and bird blinds.

A fenced Harris County dog park inside Bay Area Park, with a separate small-dog area, agility equipment, and drinking water.

Live music here mostly happens outdoors and on the water.

A bar, restaurant, and concert venue that floats on a barge on Clear Lake. It sank during Hurricane Beryl in 2024 and reopened in June 2025.

The Boardwalk runs free outdoor concert series, including Rock the Dock on Thursday evenings in summer.

The area's regional mall: an enclosed mall plus an outdoor lifestyle center with green space and a dining district. It has a Friendswood mailing address but sits inside the Houston city limits.

Johnson Space Center has been here since the 1960s. These are the NASA-heritage stops that are open to the public.

Good to KnowTram tours need their own boarding pass and often fill up, so reserve early. Tickets cost less online than at the door, and parking is extra.

NASA's center for human spaceflight, home of Mission Control and astronaut training. It is a working federal facility, so day-to-day public access is through the tram tours from Space Center Houston.

Home to one of only three Saturn V rockets still on display, along with other early rockets. It is a stop on the tram tour from Space Center Houston.

The restored control room NASA used for the Gemini and Apollo missions, including the first Moon landing.

A Harris County park named for the seven astronauts lost on the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986, with a memorial, a boardwalk and overlooks, walking trails, and a kayak launch.

One of the largest marinas on the lake, with floating and covered slips, a service yard, and several sailing schools and yacht brokers on site.

A veteran-owned school teaching American Sailing Association courses year-round. It also offers boat rentals and charters.

Single and tandem kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for rent, plus guided tours, launching onto Clear Lake from Seabrook.

A waterfront restaurant with a large deck. It is the former Sam's Boat, which reopened under this name in December 2025 after a renovation.

A volunteer-run Clear Lake tradition that has run for more than 60 years. It is a series of events rather than one weekend, including a fashion show, a dining night, and a royal court, and it raises money for scholarships and local nonprofits.

Local TipThis festival is just a part of Clear Lake.

An annual performance-boat event held over several days in June, with a poker run, shootout speed runs, and a street party in Kemah.

Free Thursday-evening concerts at the Kemah Boardwalk through the summer, mostly tribute and cover bands.

The Kemah Boardwalk's Halloween celebration, held on weekends through October with family activities, live music, and a haunted house.

Local TipTheir haunted house is so much fun! And we love that the kids can go trick-or-treating from store to store.
